Using drill core, palaeontological, well logg, and sedimentological data,we investigate the sequence stratigraphy of the Jurassic System in the southern margin of the Hala'alat Mountain, Junggar Basin. Research results show that: 1) the Jurssic System in the southern margin of the Hala'alat Mountain includes at least 3 warming periods and 4 transgression events; 2) seven sedimentary facies can be recognized, including alluvial fan facies, braided river facies, meandering river facies, braided river delta facies, fan delta facies, meandering river delta facies and lacustrine facies; 3) under relatively stable tectonic conditions, sedimentary facies and sequence stratigrphy were mainly controlled by climate change cycles, and sequence boundaries are coincident with climate change events.
