Developing scientific and rational coping strategies to climate change need to accurately grasp the spatial-temporal characteristics and laws of regional climate change in the case of increasing climate change. In this study, spatiotemporal pattern, annual and seasonal changes of regional temperature and precipitation in Inner Mongolia during 1969-2008 were researched. The average annual temperature increased significantly,54.82% of the research area was cumulatively increased 1.6-2.4℃ and 29.95%of the area was increased 2.4-3.2℃.There was no temperature decreased area and the elevated temperature areas were in most areas of Inner Mongolia except Alashan League and Ordos City. Results of the rainfall variation analysis show that 63.05% of the area changed 1mm/a,27.58% of the area was cumulatively decreased by > 40mm in 40 years,9.37% of the area showed an increasing rainfall trend. From the spatial analysis, the area of precipitation decrease was mainly concentrated most areas of Inner Mongolia in addition to Alashan League,Ordos City, and North 4cities of Hulunbeier City. From the point of average daily temperature and precipitation changes of the four seasons, mainly showed increasing in temperature and the law was spring > winter > autumn > summer; there was seasonal difference of the change of precipitation,18.39% of the area significantly increased in spring, reduced in different degrees in the other seasons which in summer was the largest, account for 35.86% of the research area. There was a catastrophe point exists in the change of temperature and the time has special significant heterogeneity.Shortly, obviously increasing temperature and decreasing precipitation will enhance the drought extent of the regional climate, which have a bad impact on agriculture and animal husbandry.Therefore,long-term scientific and efficient coping strategies must urgently be drawn up.
