The general situations of offshore wind power developments in several typical countries are briefly introduced, such as Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Japan, and etc. The main characteristics and trends of the developments of offshore wind power in above countries are described. Some outstanding problems about offshore wind power recently are summarized. Finally, suggestions are put forward that the Chinese mainland should actively develop ocean energies including offshore wind power and that we should be further more to pay attention to the deep sea strategy. Deep sea strategy should become a key direction of the future new energy development in China.
