In order to provide a science-based reference for decision-making in responding to climate changes on Sichuan Northwestern Plateau,a research was conducted,in which GIS technology, the linear trend method,Mann-Kendall mutation detection and Morlet wavelet analysis were used to make a detailed study of the spatial distribution and climate variation, based on the data of 31 meteorological observation stations of the region from 1961 to 2010.The results showed that the climate on the plateau exhibited an obvious interannual variation:annual average temperature showed an increasing trend across the region, especially in winter, annual sunshine time a decreasing trend, especially in summer, and annual precipitation an increasing trend, especially in spring. The climate in this region also exhibited an obvious interdecadal variation: Since the 1960s,annual average temperature showed an increasing trend, especially after 2000,annual sunshine increased in the 1960s and the 2000s and decreased in the middle, and annual precipitation interdecadal variability is characterized byone decrease-two increases-one decrease.Mutations in annual average temperature, sunshine hours and annual precipitation occurred in 1993,1991 and 1984,respectively. The primary cycle was 10a and 21a for annual average temperature,40a for annual sunshine hours and 4a and 10a for annual precipitation.
