In this paper, the change of vegetation in Pan-Hexi Region were extracted using MODIS NDVI data from 2002 to 2012, and its response to climate change was analyzed, combined with precipitation and temperature data, which were acquired from 22 meteorological stations. The results showed that: increasing area of NDVI accounted for 71.07% of all area, and decreasing area accounted for 28.93%; area of vegetation coverage tended to be better was significantly larger than that tended to be deteriorated in the region in recent 11 years. Inter- annual vegetation change was greatly affected by precipitation than by temperature, the coefficient of correlation between NDVI and precipitation in three seasons were greater than that between NDVI and temperature. That is to say, vegetation change in Pan-Hexi Region is more sensitive to precipitation than to temperature.
