In the context of global warming, drought has become one of the main meteorological disasters in Benxi Area. This paper built Benxi area drought monitoring and evaluation system by using modern technologies like VB 6.0 and Access database management. The system included 5 parts: the climate database subsystem climate impact of objective evaluation subsystem, the drought index library, history database query subsystem of drought disasters and drought product service subsystem. The system is available for automatic calculation of atmospheric drought Z index and agricultural drought index of the beta model, and can realize the support to whole regional drought monitoring, analysis and evaluation. This system can work in the field to provide rich graphics, tables, and text data information for the atmosphere and agricultural drought monitoring and evaluation, provide scientific basis for the decision-making of agricultural production.
