Geological storage technology is one of favorable ways to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and mitigate global warming. On the basis of the storage mechanism and geological conditions of the geological storage of carbon dioxide, with collecting and collating the geological data of the south part of North China Basin,to analyze the reservoir cap rock conditions of Zhoukou depression,Hefei Depression and Kaifeng Depression as a tectonic unit of the basin, and combined with adaptive evaluation to carry out a comprehensive evaluation,we come to the conclusion that three depression areas can be the primary venues of geological storage of carbon dioxide in south part of North China Basin. The study provides a scientific basis for future CO2 geological storage in south part of North China Basin, and lays the foundation for Chinas carbon dioxide geological storage research.
