In this study, the temperature change at different spatial scales in Gansu Province,China during the period of 1956 - 2012 was analyzed using the linear regression,Mann-Kendall mutation test, wavelet analysis and other climate mathematic statistic methods based on the daily temperature data from 31 meteorological stations. The results showed that there was a significant climate warming trend in whole Gansu Province and the Hexi and Hedong regions in recent 57 years.Temperature change in recent 57 years could be divided into three stages: the temperature was decreased gradually and slowly during the period from the late-1950s to the mid-1970s,increased persistently during the period from the mid-1970s to 2005,and decreased again from 2005.A temperature mutation in the whole province and the Hedong region occurred in 1993,but in 1994 in the Hexi region.Spatially, the temperature in Gansu Province was low in the central area but high in the east and west parts of the province. In general, the temperature in the west region was lower than that in the east region.Temperature change in Gansu was affected by both natural factors and human activities under global climate.
