In this paper, nearly 50 years meteorological and hydrological data of the Yellow River Basin were used to research the characteristics of climatic variation and extreme hydrological events. The results show that temperature of the Yellow River Basin in the 1980s rose significantly, and the trend of annual rainfall decrease, storm,flood,drought and other extreme hydrological events were more prominent. This research provides great support for scientific planning and water resources optimization scheduling.
