The Huicheng basin in Longnan City,Gansu Province is area suitable for winter wheat cultivation, where light and heat resources are abundant while water resource is slightly insufficient (dry farming areas) ,especially in winter and spring drought exerts a significant influence. Two factors exert a significant influence on the growth of wheat in Spring, which are rainfall and soil moisture during July till the end of September before the winter sowing and the time of the first good rainfall in Spring. Based on the statistical analysis of climate data and multi-year observation of growth of winter wheat in Chengxian Agricultural Meteorological Observation Station, the representative station of Huicheng basin, the present paper aimed to study the effects of climate change on winter wheat growth and yield. The results showed that: the number of light precipitation and growth of winter wheat declined with rising temperature, accumulated growth trend, increasing the chance of drought and warm winters. Wheat was shortened, sowing was delayed, overwintering was shortened, reviving -jointing and heading-maturity were shortened,jointing-heading was most obviously advanced. Jointing, heading and filling period on spatial and temporal distribution of rainfall are determinants of wheat.
