Based on the continuous MODIS data from 2000 to 2013 extract the time series characteristics of vegetation change conditions in Jiuwan mountain. The responses of vegetation coverage and the growth condition changes to the climatic variations from the yearly, seasonal and monthly time scales were analyzed combined with temperature and precipitation data form meteorological sites. In the past 13 years, vegetation coverage change was closely correlated with climatic factors. Annual precipitation is the main factor driving changes in vegetation which was better correlated than temperature. Correlations between seasonal average of vegetation coverage and climatic factors showed that the spring vegetation growth is mainly affected by temperature changes than other season, summer and autumn vegetation changes obviously affected by monthly precipitation; Correlations between monthly average of vegetation coverage and climatic factors during growing seasons showed that vegetation growth are greatly influenced by the temperature change during March and April, indicating that the temperature effect occurred in the early stage of vegetation growth. From May, the vegetation change in response to temperature changes show some lag but not significant, and the region vegetation growth was mainly affected by precipitation during the month. In summary, climatic factors has a direct effect on vegetation growth, the situation of vegetation growth could be specific revealed by monitoring the change of climate.
