The sunspot activity may play a role of induction and modulation on climate change. This research studied the influence of sunspot activity on precipitation in Shaanxi region. The ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) was adopted to analyze the periodic characteristics of the precipitation data of Shaanxi Province and the sunspots during 1960 to 2010. The results are as follow: the rainfall of Shaanxi Province had 16.7-year,9. 8-year,4.9-year and 3.3 year cycles; both the rainfall of Shaanxi Province and the sunspots had about 10-year cycle; there are negative correlations between precipitation and sunspots; furthermore, the rainfall lagged behind the sunspots. The conclusions indicate the rainfall of Shaanxi Province was influenced by the sunspot activity, but there were still other factors.
