Aiming at the lack of the aerosol application of FY-3C,which was launched in 2013,the application of dark dense vegetation(DDV)was studied.Aerosol data from medium resolution spectral image(MERSI)can be used in climate change, air environment monitoring and so on.In this paper, based on DDV algorithm which has been applied to MODIS successfully, the look up table(LUT)of atmospheric parameters was built by radiation transfer calculation of second simulation of a satellite signal in the solar spectrum-vector(6SV);by IDL′s HDF interface, satellite data was extracted and radiance was calibrated; land contribution was removed by the linear relationship between blue and shortwave infrared bands;by interpolated LUT,the aerosol optical depth(AOD)was received. The retrieval experiment over North China on May 15~(th),2014 proves that MERSI can retrieve AOD well. The validation with AERONET Xianghe site in May,2014 shows that our results have good agreement with ground-based measurements whilst the correlation coefficient is greater than 0.8.
