The Qiongzhou Strait,a water-sediment exchange channel between the western coastal waters of Guangdong province and the Beibu Gulf,is rather complicated in geological environment.Geological &geophysical survey Data and previous research products are used in this paper to systematically study the engineering geological properties of the Qiongzhou Strait submarine cable route area and its relationship with environmental evolution. The engineering geological environmental factors i.e.,hydrology conditions, topographic and morphologic features, composition and structure, physical and mechanical properties on the subsurface are complicated and diverse in Qiongzhou Strait submarine cable route area. There are both differences and connections in the distribution and origin of those factors The riversea interaction since late Pleistocene are the main factors, which may influence the genesis and development of Engineering geological condition in the Strait. The continued rise in sea levels caused by future global warming will Change regional geotechnical conditions in Qiongzhou Strait.More attentions should be given to the regional geotechnical conditions that can greatly threaten regional economic development and engineering construction.
