The mixed evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved forest is a natural transitional vegetation type between evergreen broad-leaved and deciduous broad-leaved forests, which is sensitive to climate change. According to field investigation of fixed sampling plots, the species composition of woody plants with diameter at breast height (DBH) of 4 cm or more in the mixed evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved forest of China in 2001 were recorded. The data comprised the scientific name of species, average DBH, abundance, importance value, leaf habit, shade tolerance, succession status, containing 81 species in 58 genera, from 35 families. Users can search the data according to the species name, leaf habit, or succession status. The setup and data sharing of this typical subtropical mixed evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved forest database will provide important evidence for a better understanding of the dynamic characteristics of this type of forest and its response to climate change. It will assist with the enhancement of the scientific research of mixed evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved forests and is of significance to the study of long-term vegetation ecology in China.
