China has become the largest producer and consumer of food in the world,and ensuring food security and increasing farmers' income have always been the foundation of the country and the policy for the people. Jilin province is the primary producing area of maize in China,which achieves the highest yield level per unit and the highest commodity rate and thus plays an important role in ensuring national food security. However,the aggravated obstacles of beingshallow,low in nutrient, compact,thinof subsoil,the prominent contradiction of nutrient supply and demand and the poor population quality have led to the instability in maize production,low resource efficiency and increased environmental risk,because of the long-term pursuit of high yield. The present study focused onhigh yield population quality improvement,fertile surface soil construction,efficient management of nutrient and water resources,and attained great development and innovation in the the-ories and key technologies related to high yield,high efficiency and green development for maize. Three cultivation technology patterns which centereddense planting,fertile surface soil,reasonable water and fertilizer managementwere established,demonstrated,promoted and applied in production, and remarkable social and economic benefits were achieved. Re-optimization and scientific evaluation for intensive scale production technology in future,pathway construction of technology pattern diffusion,and the research emphasis of cultivation technology responded to the global climate change were also concluded.
