To determine the maize seedling insect pest species,distribution and occurrence trend under the new cultivation system and climate warming conditions in Jilin province,maize seedling pests were systematically investigated in 9 cities,44 countries(towns or districts),total 424 investigation sites of Jilin province from 2014 to 2016.The result showed that there were more than 20 seedling pest species belonging to 5 orders and 13 families in Jilin province,in which Lepidoptera and Coleoptera pests were common,involving 16 species in 8 families,accounting for more than 70% of pest species.Additionally,there were 3 maize seedling pests newly discovered in Jilin province.Furthermore,the average pest field rates of white grubs and wireworms,the main seedling pests,were 24.90% and 27.76% respectively,which reduced from western region to eastern region,nevertheless the damaged maize plant rates in the middle region was higher than that in western and eastern region,and increased year by year.With the continuous cropping of maize and implementation of new cultivation measures such as straw application and no tillage,the number and damage degree of the main seedling pests white grubs and wireworms were in- creasing year by year.The average pest field rates of other insect pests were all below 5.00%,not yet threating maize production.
