The purpose of this paper is to summarize the research progress of land ecosystem services at home and abroad since 2000. The method employed is literature review. The results indicate that significant progress and important achievements have been made in the research on land ecosystem service value evaluation, trade-off and synergy analysis and spatial flow study since 2000, however, many problems exist in concept and connotation, methods and technology as well as applications. It is concluded that the future research on land ecosystem services should be further highlighted in the following aspects: developing a more perfect system of ecosystem services research, incorporating ecosystem services into the global change research framework, and establishing a complex link among policies, land-use and ecosystem services. Moreover, the research on land ecosystem services will provide better decision support for improving human well-being.
