The project of" Global Ocean Climate Data Records Generation and Analysis" was initiated in 2016,and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China through the" National Key Research and Development Program of China".In order to meet the needs of global climate change research for ocean environmental data, based on the multi-source satellite data, this project aims to develop the technologies of data product generation for the sea surface energy balance, ocean dynamic environment parameters and processes, ocean color, and sea ice that are all closely related to the global climate change. With the technologies,China's first global ocean CDRs will be developed which is characterized by its long time series, high accuracy and spatio-temporal consistency. The data records will provide key support for the global climate change research, and enhance China's ability in monitoring the vital processes and elements of the global climate change. This paper outlines the research significance, research contents, anticipated outputs and existing studies.
