Study of the evolution and climatic variation in the monsoonal margin area in China during the Holocene epoch shows there are obviously differences from the east to the west. Firstly,a typical three-stage evolution process is presented in the eastern Horqin Sandy Land and central Mu Us Sandy Land, while the western Gonghe Basin is characterized by multi-stage evolution. Secondly,in the eastern Horqin Sandy Land and central Mu Us Sandy Land the climate change is also presented in three phases, while the change of the western Gonghe Basin is relatively complicated due to the regional features. Thirdly, the Holocene abrupt climate events have different effects on different regions. The Asian monsoon circulation controlled by the solar isolation and the change of the effective humidity has great influence on the sandy evolution.
