The drawbacks of existing networks architecture have become more obvious with the development of Internet, and high energy consumption and low efficiency are the highlighted problems of networks system. To address this problem, researchers have proposed a number of schemes to improve networks energy efficiency, such as introducing efficient cooling methods, dynamically provisioning servers and so on. While the current researches focus on the energy consumption analyses on network equipment level and routing protocols and algorithms levels, there are few researches on network architecture level and based on real network data. In this paper we discuss the energy consumption situation of two networks system (CDN and smart and cooperation network) based on traceroute data in a networks global view. Results show that the smart and cooperation network can significantly reduce the energy consumption required for obtaining the same data under the same condition.
