To analyze the historical evolution of the climate factors (such as light, temperature, precipitation and so on) during tobacco growing periods in typical robust flavor style tobacco areas, 31 years of climatic data(19812011) based on five-days interval were collected in typical robust flavor style tobacco growing counties, and analyzed the change tendencies of climate factors. The results showed that the average temperature, effective accumulated temperature, diurnal temperature and sunshine hour of the central and south Henan tobacco-planting areas in the root elongation and vigorous growth stages were significantly more than that of typical robust flavor style tobacco-planting areas in south China (south Anhui and south Hunan, north Guangdong and south Jiangxi), and the precipitation and relative humidity were significantly less than that of typical robust flavor style tobacco-planting areas in south China. However, the climate differences during the maturation stage in two tobacco-planting areas were not obvious. On the annual variation, the precipitation and relative humidity of each tobacco-planting area decreased with fluctuating during the root elongation and vigorous growth stages, in contrast with the average temperature, effective accumulated temperature and diurnal temperature. In the maturation stage, the precipitation decreased and the average temperature, effective accumulated temperature and diurnal temperature increased with fluctuating in typical robust flavor style tobacco-planting areas in south China. The precipitation increased and the average temperature, effective accumulated temperature and diurnal temperature were relatively stable in typical robust flavor style tobacco-planting areas in north China.
