Based on the comprehensive analysis of pollen, grain size and 14 C dating of the sediments in the Wenanwa wetland of Hebei Province,North China, the regional climate and environmental changes were reconstructed the Late Holocene. The results show that the climate has changed from cool-wet to cold-dry in the region, can be subdivided into three stages.During the first stage, from 3 200 cal.a B.P.to 2 010 cal.a B.P.,it was with moist. The climate gradually turned to cold-dry from 2 010 cal.a B.P.to 1 280 cal.a B.P.during the second stage;and became further cold and dry after 1 280 cal.a B.P.during the third stage.Since the ice age(556-160 cal.a B.P.),the content of Selaginella sinensis (Desv.)Spring spore has continuously increased, with an increasing coarse particle content (>63mum),which indicates a much fluctuated climate with coexisting drough and floods in this area since the ice age.
