英文摘要: Marine dredging operations are not uncommon in coastal waters since they are necessary for several beneficial usessuch as harbour maintenancebeach nourishment or removal/capping of pollutantsamongst others. They also constitute a significant risk for the environmentchanging its physicalchemical and biological characteristicsas evidenced by many authors. In this studytwo numerical models are used to simulate the dispersion pattern of fine suspended sediment spilled from a dredge bargeconsidering different hydrodynamic scenariosparticle sizes and dredging tracks in a mesotidal environment. The results show thatin this particular casethe currents (largely induced by the tide) are the main responsible for the final disposition of the settled particlesbeing the other variables of secondary importance. © 2013 Elsevier Ltd.
