英文摘要: The recent article by Yang et al. (2014 provides a very useful summary of the litho- and biostratigraphy of the sub-trilobitic lower Cambrian on the tropical shelf of South China. Our concern with this article is that it did not draw on or utilize existing reports that followed IUGS protocols in the proposal of a GSSP horizon and locality for informal Stage 2 of the lower Cambrian. Indeed, a proposal of an integrated bio- and chemostratigraphic signature (i.e., the peak of the L4 carbon isotope excursion within the Watsonella crosbyi Assemblage Zone in South China) for the base of Stage 10 and the location of a Stage 2 GSSP 9 m below the top of the Dahai Member at the Laolin roadcut offers the potential for correlation of a Stage 2 base across southern China and globally (i.e., into Siberla and Avalonia). © 2016 Elsevier B.V.
